Senior Construction Project Manager Job at New Path Construction and Consulting, Illinois

  • New Path Construction and Consulting
  • Illinois

Job Description

About the role

Location: St. Charles, IL (Chicagoland), with regular travel to job sites ·

Type: Full-time, on-site

New Path Construction is a 10-year-old, open-shop commercial general contractor with offices in Chicagoland, Phoenix and Dallas-Fort Worth. We build car washes, gas stations and c-stores, retail centers, self-storage facilities, restaurants and other commercial projects, offering GC, in-house architecture and design-build under one roof.

We're hiring a Senior Project Manager to own ground-up commercial projects from preconstruction through closeout. You'll run multiple jobs at once for repeat clients and national brands, including active car wash rollouts across Illinois, Michigan and Colorado. This is a high-visibility role reporting directly to leadership, with real authority over budget, schedule and client relationships.

A path to leadership. We're a growing company, and we're hiring with the future in mind. We want people who are ready to grow into leadership roles such as Director of Operations, VP of Construction, or the head of new regional offices as we grow in Chicagoland, Phoenix and Dallas-Fort Worth. You'll work closely with company leadership and get direct mentorship. You'll also get exposure to the business side of construction, including preconstruction, estimating, client development and financial management. If you want more than your next project, and you're ready to help build the team and shape how New Path runs, this role is built for you.

What you'll do

  • Lead 3–6 concurrent ground-up commercial projects, typically $2M–$15M each, from site handoff through certificate of occupancy and closeout
  • Own project budgets, cost reports, forecasts and change orders on both lump-sum and cost-plus/GMP contracts
  • Build and manage master schedules covering sitework, utilities, foundations, vertical construction and equipment install
  • Coordinate civil, site and utility work: grading, underground, stormwater, paving, and utility tie-ins with municipalities and providers
  • Manage permitting and entitlements alongside architects, civil engineers and municipal staff
  • Buy out subcontracts and purchase orders, and manage subcontractor performance, scope gaps and payment applications
  • Coordinate specialty systems unique to our verticals: car wash tunnel equipment and water reclaim, fuel systems and canopies, storage unit systems, and retail tenant handoffs
  • Serve as the client's primary point of contact, running OAC meetings and delivering clear, on-time reporting
  • Partner with superintendents on safety, quality and site logistics
  • Support preconstruction with estimates, constructability reviews and value engineering
  • Mentor project engineers and assistant PMs

What you bring

  • 8+ years of commercial construction project management, including at least 5 years leading ground-up projects as PM or Sr. PM
  • A track record of delivering ground-up commercial projects on schedule and on budget, from dirt to CO
  • Strong command of sitework, underground utilities and municipal permitting
  • Fluency in construction financials: cost-to-complete, WIP reporting, change order management, GMP and lump-sum contracts
  • Experience managing subcontractors in an open-shop environment
  • Proficiency with Procore (or similar), MS Project or P6, Bluebeam and Excel
  • Ability to read and interpret civil, architectural, structural and MEP drawings
  • Clear, confident communicator with owners, architects, inspectors and trades
  • Willingness to travel to job sites, including occasional out-of-state rollout projects
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent field experience
  • OSHA 30 preferred; valid driver's license required

What sets you apart

We'll prioritize candidates who have built in one or more of these verticals:

  • Car washes: express tunnel, flex-serve or in-bay builds; tunnel equipment, water reclaim, pay stations and vacuum systems
  • Gas stations and c-stores: fuel tanks and dispensers, canopies, environmental permitting, and coordination with fuel brands
  • Retail developments: strip centers, pad sites, outlots and national-brand shell or tenant work
  • Self-storage: single-story drive-up and multi-story climate-controlled facilities

Multi-site rollout experience for a national or regional brand is a strong plus, as is experience on the owner or developer side.

Pay, benefits and how to apply

Salary: $130,000–$165,000 per year, based on experience, plus performance bonus

  • Medical through BCBS of Illinois (PPO and HMO options), with a company contribution toward premiums
  • Company-paid $30,000 group term life and AD&D
  • Optional dental
  • 401(k) with company match up to 3.5%
  • 12 days paid vacation, plus paid holidays and up to 12 work-from-home days a year
  • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance (confirm)

To apply: send your resume and a short list of ground-up projects you've managed (type, size, contract value) through our job post or to info@newpathconstruction.com.
